Summer Class Descriptions
Weaves and Contact Training
For teams that have started their weave and contact training but want to continue their progress over the summer.  This class is designed for teams that completed a Beginners or Novice class this past season.  We will continue to build on your weave and contact training foundations to get you further down the road towards proficiency on the contact obstacles and performance of 12 weave poles.  This is NOT a proofing/distraction class for more advanced teams that can already perform weaves and contact obstacles, although it may be appropriate for teams that have a specific issue, such as teeter fears. Class limit to 8.  We reserve the right to add more students if a second instructor can be found.

Day and time: Every other Tuesday – 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.  **Set-up starts at 7:10 p.m.
Dates:  June 13, 27, July 18, Aug. 1, 15 & 29
Cost: $75

Instructor: Jean Emery - Registration form

Handling Challenges
This class will focus on challenging handling sequences, particularly timing and cuing techniques. We will only use jumps, tunnels and weaves and will draw from challenges typically found in Excellent, Masters, Premier and Master Challenge Jumpers courses.  No contact equipment. Class limited to teams where dogs are sequencing and can perform 12 weaves. No more than 8 teams.

Summer Camp: Handling Techniques
Now for something completely different.  We will spread four class sessions over one weekend, focusing on specific handling techniques and then applying them in a 15-20 obstacle “course.” On Friday and Saturday evenings, we will focus on four specific handling techniques each night, breaking them down into their component elements on just one or two obstacles. The following morning (Saturday and Sunday), we will combine all four of those techniques into course-like sequences.  The techniques to be covered may include: front cross, blind cross, false turn, backside send, rear cross, forced front cross, reverse spin and lateral push (subject to change).  Only tunnels and jumps will be used. No contacts or weaves.  This is designed for handlers looking to improve their cuing skills and push themselves to complete multiple handling challenges in a single course.

Days: Friday p.m., Saturday am and pm, and Sunday am.
Times:  p.m. 7:30 to 9:30 **Set up starting at 7:10 p.m.
